I like to help people.''
Tavi - IRONMAN in the making
Tavi (10) does
Ironman for children with cancer
Tavi, a 10-year-old boy from de Wijk, is working on an impressive challenge this summer: completing an Ironman triathlon. He set himself this goal to raise money for children with cancer. Inspired by a documentary about the Princess Máxima Center in Utrecht, Tavi decided he wanted to do something to help these children.
Every day Tavi trains hard by swimming, cycling or running. He spreads the full Ironman, consisting of a 3.8 kilometer swim, 180 kilometer bike ride and a marathon, over several weeks. At the end of August he hopes to complete his last kilometers at the Princess Máxima Center, where he hopes to raise at least €10,000.
Last year Tavi ran 111 kilometers to raise money for a service dog, and now he wants to help others again with this new challenge. Despite his young age, Tavi is determined and inspired by heroes like Maarten van der Weijden, who also works for charities.
